About MPPP

Modesto Parent Participation Preschool (MPPP), established in 1970, is founded on the principle that the best education results from an active partnership among parents, teachers, and children. Our philosophy embraces the idea that our children learn best through play, and we provide a rich learning and playing environment where parents and children experience child development together. Our free flow structure and developmentally appropriate curriculum provide an environment where each unique child can learn and grow, and where parents can learn more about their children and their job as parents.

We are licensed through the State of California (License #500302694) and are a member of the California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools (CCPPNS). Here is our Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPM).

Non Discriminatory Policy:

Modesto Parent Participation Preschool welcomes families of all races, colors, religions and national and ethnic origins without regard to sexual orientation, gender identity, or marital status. This non-discrimination policy covers employment as well as admission and access to our school’s programs and activities.

Learning Through Play

MPPP understands that young children are in a crucial period of development, physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. They need understanding and guidance that respects their individual developmental levels.

At MPPP, the work of children is PLAY. Play is an avenue of learning. There will be many opportunities for looking, touching, listening, moving, tasting and smelling in order for children to discover more about themselves and the world around them. They will have opportunities , through play experiences, to build relationships with others and learn how to manage feelings. It is through play that a child can learn he or she is a valuable, wonderful creation.

The United States has an organization called NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children) that focuses on early childhood education and believes that play is extremely important for your child's learning and development. They say that play is not just about having fun, but it's actually a very valuable way for children to learn and grow.

When your child plays, they are actively learning and exploring the world around them. It's a way for them to make sense of things, develop new skills, and understand their emotions. Play helps your child learn in many different ways, like figuring out how things work, solving problems, and learning how to get along with others. Play is not just play. It's a powerful way for your child to learn, explore, and develop.

MPPP is committed to being developmentally appropriate for your preschool child. Children receive a rich variety of experiences, which are consistent with his or her own style and pace of learning. Children can gain self confidence through successful learning. As children explore and discover, they can make sense of the world.

MPPP provides children with…

Board of Directors

MPPP is a unique kind of preschool. It is governed by a Board of Directors made up of elected participation parents and teachers. All issues are governed by the Board of Directors. Parents will share new and exciting experiences with their child and other children. There will be opportunities to learn new ways of handling children from professional staff members and other parents. There will be a chance to watch your child in a new perspective as a member of the group. Because the family is a partner in the preschool experience, family ties are strengthened. With the shared experiences and responsibilities between the families and the school, the program can provide quality and remain cost effective.

As a cooperative preschool, we keep our costs low and our adult-child ratio high by having parents participate in the classroom regularly. Parents also make up our Board of Directors and take on other roles (such as gardener, laundry, yearbook, etc.) to ensure the success of our school.
