Our Program

Our play-based curriculum is rooted in research-based practices to promote a child’s physical, cognitive, social and emotional development, that will prepare them to enter school well prepared.

  • A child’s body and physical development are the foundation and building blocks for all growth and learning. MPPP provides an environment where children can be outside and use all of their senses and develop their muscles, balance and coordination. They are encouraged to take risks and to try again and again. Fine motor skills and dexterity are developed through manipulation of natural objects, blocks, puzzles and art materials.

  • Children receive, organize and integrate information they glean from the world around them. They learn to sort, classify and develop thinking skills and strategies. Stories, songs, pretend play, and rhymes all promote language skills.

  • Children have many chances to interact, share, negotiate and problem solve with other children. They develop the ability to function in a group during play, Circle Time and snack time. They build connections with and learn to care about each other.

  • Children learn to identify and express their feelings; and they learn to recognize and respect the feelings of others. They develop competence and grow self-confidence as they take risks and master challenges.

Weekly Themes

Creative learning through making and moving

Our teachers design weekly themes for our preschoolers. Weekly themes are a way of organizing learning activities around a central topic or idea that interests preschool children. They can help children explore, understand, and appreciate their world in deeper, more connected ways.

Examples

  • Animals: Children can learn about different types of animals, their habitats, characteristics, and behaviors. They can also compare and contrast animals, sort them into categories, and create their own animal stories or crafts.

  • Construction: Children can learn about different modes of transportation, how they work, and why they are important. They can also practice counting, measuring, and sorting vehicles, as well as designing and building their own models.

  • Community Helpers: Children can learn about different types of community helpers. They can be doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, teachers, librarians, mail carriers, and many more. Learning about community helpers can help preschoolers develop their social skills, vocabulary, and understanding of their surroundings.
